- Define a specific audience, problem and direction for a personal brand.
- Turn a genuine project into a concise evidence-based case study.
- Write a clear short and long professional introduction.
- Choose one appropriate next action for profile visitors.
- Review claims, permissions and private information before publishing.
What this gives you for work
- A clear professional introduction for LinkedIn, applications and networking.
- A concise case study that turns genuine project work into credible evidence.
- A practical portfolio plan showing what you can do without exaggerated claims.
- A verifiable SHE//BUILDS achievement credential for your CV or LinkedIn profile.
Choose a credible professional direction.
A personal brand is a useful pattern
It is what somebody can understand about your work after seeing your profile, projects and contributions. It is not a logo, a colour palette or a claim to be an expert.
Start with four questions:
- Who would you like to help?
- What useful problem can you help with?
- Which skills or approach can you demonstrate?
- What kind of work would you like more of?
You do not need to trap yourself in one job title forever. You need a clear current direction.
Worked comparison
Vague: I am a passionate, innovative problem-solver who loves AI.
Specific: I help independent retailers reduce repetitive customer admin by planning and testing simple AI-assisted workflows.
The second version gives the reader an audience, problem and approach. It can also be checked against real evidence.
Direction before confidence
If you are learning, say so honestly:
I am building practical experience designing simple client workflows for solo businesses. My current projects focus on clear requirements, privacy and testing.
That is stronger than claiming senior expertise you cannot yet support.
Choose work you can prove
List three possible pieces of evidence:
- a clearly labelled practice project;
- a workflow or process you improved;
- a guide or explanation you created;
- a contribution to a team project;
- a course output showing your decisions and tests.
Do not include confidential material or take sole credit for shared work.
Your task
Complete the positioning fields in the lab. Read the preview as if you were a busy hiring manager or potential collaborator.
Remove generic words that could describe thousands of people. Keep only claims you can explain with evidence.
Before you move on
You should have a direction that is specific enough to guide your next project but honest enough to defend in a conversation.
You can read every lesson without signing in.

Complete every lesson, answer all 8 questions and score at least 80% to receive your Certificate of Achievement.
