You don’t need a perfect routine.

Start with the week you actually have and make space for one thing that matters.

You do not need a colour-coded life before you can try an idea. You need a next step small enough to fit into the week you actually have.

Look at your ordinary week

Write down the commitments you cannot move: work, caring responsibilities, school runs, appointments and anything else that already has a place. Include rest and the things you enjoy. This is not a test of how much you can squeeze in.

Then look for one realistic space. It might be a short lunch break, a quiet morning or an hour somebody else has agreed to help you protect. If there is no space this week, choose a smaller step or a later week.

Pick one result

“I’ll work on my app” is difficult to finish. “I’ll write down who it is for and the one job it needs to do” has an end.

Other small results could be:

  • Make a list of three people to ask about your idea.
  • Sketch one screen.
  • Test one form with fictional information.
  • Write the first paragraph of a service offer.

The first-build planning course can help you turn a large idea into a smaller version.

Keep a note for next time

Before stopping, write three lines: what you finished, what is still unclear and the exact next action. Include the file or page you need to open.

That note saves you from using the next session to remember where you were. If a task is interrupted, you can leave the same note and come back later.

Make the plan easier to restart

Keep the materials you need in one place. Choose one notebook, document or simple tracker for the current project. You do not need to maintain several systems to prove you are organised.

Review without turning it into a verdict

At the end of the week, ask what fitted, what took longer and what you can simplify. A missed session is information about the plan. Adjust the plan rather than treating it as a judgement about you.

You can have an idea without making it your whole life. Make room for your own ideas gives you a way to explore one at your own pace.
